In anticipation of the upcoming bye-election scheduled for Saturday, February 3, 2024 , the Lagos State Police Command has announce to the general public there will be restriction of movement in the election area, Surulere Federal Constituency I only.
Residents of Surulere Federal Constituency I are advised of temporary movement restrictions in the election area.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced that there will be a prohibition of movement into and out of feeder roads off Funsho Williams Avenue. However, the main thoroughfare, Funsho Williams Avenue, will remain open for passage during the electoral process.
The precautionary measures are designed to ensure the smooth conduct of the bye-election within Surulere Federal Constituency I.
He urged residents to plan their movements accordingly on the specified date, as enforcement of these restrictions will be in effect to maintain order and security.
“It is crucial for residents to note that these restrictions apply solely to Surulere Federal Constituency I, and there will be no limitations on movement in other parts of Lagos State. This allows residents outside the election area to go about their daily activities without hindrance.”
The announcement serves as a reminder to the general public to stay informed about the temporary restrictions and to cooperate with the authorities during this period.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin assured that the police are committed to ensuring a peaceful and orderly bye-election process in Surulere Federal Constituency I.
