Popular Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja at the early hours of Monday in company of his lawyer and family representative.
Seun who was pictured in handcuffs at the Police Command was alleged of assaulting a police officer in a viral video that has been highly condemned by the public since it surfaced.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, had earlier ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to immediately arrest Seun Kuti while he equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.
A statement signed by the Lagos State Pub relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that Seun Kuti who turned himself in at the early hours of Monday, has been placed under arrest in line with the law.
While appreciating the he public for their concern, the Police assures that the ongoing investigation will be detailed, transparent, professionally pursued; and justice will be manifestly served for all parties involved.
