There are indications that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have called off their industrial action over a lack of consensus on a new minimum wage and the hike in electricity tariff.
The TUC president Festus Osifo gave this hint on Tuesday in Abuja after a joint extraordinary national executive council meeting of the unions. A communique will be issued shortly, the labour chief said.
Labour had on Monday started a nationwide strike to register their grievances over the hike in electricity tariff and lack of consensus on a new minimum wage.
Day one of the strike grounded activities in major sectors of the economy with schools, businesses, hospitals, and airports shut while national grid was also shut down.
