President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken the decision to dissolve the Governing Boards of all Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-Owned Companies. This action has been carried out in accordance with the Constitutional Powers vested in the President and has been deemed necessary for the benefit of the public.
It is important to note that the dissolution does not impact Boards, Commissions, and Councils that are listed in the Third Schedule, Part 1, Section 153 (i) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
During this period of transition until new boards are constituted, the Chief Executive Officers of the Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-Owned Companies are instructed to direct any matters requiring the attention of their respective Boards to the President. This should be done through the Permanent Secretaries of their supervisory Ministries and Offices.
Additionally, Permanent Secretaries are directed to forward such correspondences to the President via the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. As of Friday, June 16, 2023, all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies are expected to adhere to the provisions of this directive.
Furthermore, Permanent Secretaries are specifically instructed to inform the Chief Executive Officers of the affected Agencies under the supervision of their respective Ministries/Offices about this development and ensure immediate compliance.
