The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned Baba Kudu Mohammed for allegedly forging a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Abuja and a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exemption certificate.
Mohammed was brought before Justice A.Y. Shafa of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Nyanya, on a four-count charge of forgery.
The ICPC alleged that he presented the forged certificates to the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) in a bid to secure employment.
One of the charges stated that Mohammed was found in possession of a forged NYSC exemption letter, purportedly issued by the NYSC Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, in violation of Section 368 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 53, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Prosecution counsel Hamza Sani informed the court that he was ready to proceed with the case and had two witnesses prepared to testify.
Meanwhile, defense counsel M.E. Abubakar applied for bail on behalf of his client, a request that the prosecution did not oppose.
The court granted Mohammed bail under specified conditions and adjourned the case to March 3, 2025, for the commencement of hearings.
