Dangote Group has clarified that there is no new legal action against the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) and other parties.
This comes after a legal issue that originated in June, which culminated in a case being filed on September 6, 2024.
Currently, the parties involved are in ongoing discussions following President Bola Tinubu’s directive on the Crude Oil and Refined Products Sales in Naira initiative.
This directive, which was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), has paved the way for progress, and according to Dangote, events have overtaken the initial legal development.
A spokesperson from Dangote emphasized, “No party has been served with court processes, and there is no intention of doing so. We have agreed to put a halt to the proceedings.”
Additionally, the company confirmed that no court orders have been issued, and no adverse effects have been felt by any party. “We understand that once the matter comes up in January 2025, we will be in a position to formally withdraw the matter in court,” the spokesperson added.
This statement reinforces that the situation is under control, and all parties are working together towards a resolution.
