Lagos State Police Command said it has arrested an elderly man, Kamoru Ojo for allegedly beaten his mentally ill daughter to death.
It was gathered that 27-year-old, Shakirat Ojo, who had recently returned from a five-year stay in Libya, suddenly exhibited signs of mental instability and erratic behavior in the community.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) CSP Benjamin Hundeyin who addressed journalists at the command headquarters, Ikeja, on Monday said on April 3, 2025 at about 8pm a distress call was received by the Okomaiko Divisional Police.
He added that when detectives from the police station visited the scene it was gathered that the incident occurred on March 26, 2025.
During investigation it was revealed that the deceased lady, Shakirat Ojo who just returned from Libya was allegedly beating to death by her father, who also buried the victim secretly in a shallow grave within his compound at Afromedia area of Ojo.
Following the report, a team comprising homicide and scene of crime detectives visited the area.
The shallow grave was located, and the corpse was exhumed, photographed, and taken to a public morgue for autopsy.
The police added that the suspect had been arrested and is currently in police custody.
The Police Spokesperson however said investigation was ongoing on the matter.
In a similar development, detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have uncovered a baby factory at Afurugbin, Ijegun area of the State on April 5, 2025.
CSP Hundeyin said after police received intelligence report about the centre, detectives of the Command were quickly mobilized to the scene where the operator, Mariam Vincent 35 and two others, Orie Ruth 23 and Ujunwa Ifeanyi 18, were immediately arrested.
“Some of the victims arrested at the centre are Precious 24, Magdalene 25, Adaobi 23, Princess 22, Ifeanyi
25, Amaka 26 and three children namely; Destiny 7, Miracle 5 and Success 2, held in captivity, were rescued during the operation at the centre.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have abducted their victims in different area of the state for the purpose of running a baby factory. While Investigation was ongoing on the matter.”
